Jan. 25, 2020: Walk for Life – TLM/EF Mass schedules, Info Faire

There are at least 2 Traditional Latin Masses scheduled at the vicinity of this weekend’s Walk for Life in San Francisco:

1) Sung Traditional Latin Mass preceding the West Coast Walk for Life, 10:00 am, Saturday, January 25th at the Carmelite Monastery of Cristo Rey. The church is located at 721 Parker Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118.

2) National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi, 610 Vallejo Street, San Francisco, CA at 6:00PM. After the Walk, a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated by the recently ordained (2019) Fr. Michael Rocha, with Fr. Francisco Nahoe, OFM, serving as homilist. Music will be provided by the schola cantorum under the direction of Dr. William Mahrt of Stanford University.

The California Apostolates of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (Oakland and San Jose) will have a booth at the Info Faire from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at the Civic Center Plaza, San Francisco. Please feel free to stop by and say hello! At 12:00 PM, the Institute apostolate faithful will gather with Canons Ueda and Wiener by the 3rd flagpole on the right, facing City Hall. The walk starts at 1:30PM. We start walking from Civic Center Plaza down Market Street to Embarcadero Plaza. The entire Institute contingent will walk together under the Institute banner, and then pose for a group photo at the end of the Walk.

Schedule of Masses for Christmastide at IHM Belmont; Important announcement!

Our schedule of masses for Christmastide at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Belmont has now been fixed, which covers the Octave of the Nativity of the Lord (1/1/2020 – 12:30PM), Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus (1/5/2020 – 5:00 PM), Solemnity of the Epiphany (1/6/2020 – 6:30 PM) and Presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ / Candlemas (2/2/2020 – 4:00 PM).

Starting February 2, 2020, all our Sunday Extraordinary Form Masses will now be on a new time slot (4:00 PM). We are also pleased to announce that starting on March 1st – The First Sunday of Lent, the Mass in the Extraordinary Form will now be celebrated EVERY Sunday (4:00 PM)! Please help spread the word!

EF Mass for the Immaculate Heart of Mary – Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Chapel, SF (Aug. 22)

All are invited to the Mass for the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Extraordinary Form (Traditional Latin Mass) on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 7:00 PM. The celebrant is Father John Chung. The Sisters of Perpetual Adoration will be singing prayerful Gregorian chants for this Missa Cantata that would also include the beautiful Ave Maria and the Ave Maris Stella.

Reminder: 1st Sunday TLM at IHM Belmont (July 7, 2019)

Just reminding our readers of the 1st Sunday Traditional Latin Mass scheduled on July 7, 2019 (5:00 PM) at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (1040 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA). For this Sunday, mass will be celebrated by Canon Raphael Ueda (Chaplain for the Immaculate Heart of Mary Oratory in San Jose, CA). July 7 also marks the anniversary of the publication of our Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI’s motu proprio, Summorum Pontificum, so please take a moment to pray for him and his health. We are encouraged by an uptick on mass attendance for the past few months so please continue spreading the word and invite your family and friends!

EF Requiem Mass – May 23, 2019 – Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in SF

All are invited to a Requiem Mass in the Extraordinary Form (Missa Cantata) for the repose of the soul of Sister Imelda (center of picture) who passed away last March 17, 2019, at 95 years old. She joined the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration at the tender age of fifteen. The Requiem Mass on Thursday, May 23, 2019, will begin at 6:30 PM, at the Chapel of the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration located at 771 Ashbury Street, San Francisco, CA. Mass will be celebrated by Father Alvin Yu.

2019 Ordination for the Archdiocese of San Francisco; First Masses of Thanksgiving

Deacon Michael Rocha shared with us the good news of his upcoming ordination to the priesthood taking place this Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 AM (alongside Deacons Kyle Faller and Ernesto Jandonero for the Archdiocese of San Francisco) at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption (1111 Gough Street, San Francisco, CA) by His Excellency, Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San Francisco. There is a reception following the ceremony.

Of particular interest for Rev. Michael Rocha’s 1st Mass is that the mass setting will be William Byrd’s Mass of Five Voices. Fr. Alvin Yu (Parochial Vicar, St. Matthew Church, San Mateo, CA) will be the deacon and Abbé Kevin Kerscher (Oblate for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest) the subdeacon. Fr. Joseph Illo will give the homily. Reception to follow afterward. The following week, there will be three additional first masses in Modesto:
