Jan. 25, 2020: Walk for Life – TLM/EF Mass schedules, Info Faire

There are at least 2 Traditional Latin Masses scheduled at the vicinity of this weekend’s Walk for Life in San Francisco:

1) Sung Traditional Latin Mass preceding the West Coast Walk for Life, 10:00 am, Saturday, January 25th at the Carmelite Monastery of Cristo Rey. The church is located at 721 Parker Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94118.

2) National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi, 610 Vallejo Street, San Francisco, CA at 6:00PM. After the Walk, a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form will be celebrated by the recently ordained (2019) Fr. Michael Rocha, with Fr. Francisco Nahoe, OFM, serving as homilist. Music will be provided by the schola cantorum under the direction of Dr. William Mahrt of Stanford University.

The California Apostolates of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (Oakland and San Jose) will have a booth at the Info Faire from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at the Civic Center Plaza, San Francisco. Please feel free to stop by and say hello! At 12:00 PM, the Institute apostolate faithful will gather with Canons Ueda and Wiener by the 3rd flagpole on the right, facing City Hall. The walk starts at 1:30PM. We start walking from Civic Center Plaza down Market Street to Embarcadero Plaza. The entire Institute contingent will walk together under the Institute banner, and then pose for a group photo at the end of the Walk.

Institute of Christ the King coming to Pittsburgh, PA

Upon invitation by Bishop David Zubik, the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest will be establishing a new apostolate at the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Effective October 15, 2018, two priests of the Institute will assume responsibility as Administrator and Parochial Vicar for St. John XXIII Parish, as announced during Sunday masses last April 29 (view two-page letter from the bishop below).

The Traditional Latin Mass is offered daily at Saint John XXIII Parish in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Cardinal Zen – EF Mass at St. Margaret Mary’s (6PM – Aug. 22, 2017)

His Eminence, Joseph Cardinal Zen (Bishop Emeritus of Hong Kong), is currently visiting the San Francisco Bay Area. Given his very tight schedule, we are happy to report that arrangements for him to celebrate the Extraordinary Form had been successful and that he will be coming to St. Margaret Mary’s Church (1219 Excelsior Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610) on Tuesday, August 22nd, at 6:00PM for the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Everyone is invited!

Tomorrow’s Pontifical Mass (Extraordinary Form) to be celebrated by Raymond Cardinal Burke at St. Margaret Mary will be available for viewing live via YouTube (click here). While mass starts at 12:30 PM (PST), the YouTube channel will start to broadcast sometime before mass. This will be shown as well at the Father Kozina Hall via overhead projector where additional seats will accommodate the expected big number of faithful attending. A priest will go down the hall to distribute Holy Communion. After mass (4PM), a welcome reception at the Cathedral of Christ the Light (2121 Harrison St, Oakland, CA 94612) will take place, concluding with a Solemn Benediction at 5PM.
