Photos: Confirmation in the Extraordinary Form in San Francisco (Dec. 3, 2016)

Last Saturday (December 3, 2016), his Excellency, the Most Reverend Salvatore J. Cordileone, Archbishop of San Francisco conferred the sacrament of Confirmation to a group of mostly young Catholics from various parishes in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. The rite of Confirmation was done in the Extraordinary Form, which was followed by a Solemn Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at Star of the Sea Church in San Francisco. To our knowledge, this marks the first time the Sacrament of Confirmation was done in the archdiocese using the traditional Roman Rite since the post-Conciliar liturgical reform of the 60’s. Liturgical assistance was provided by some seminarians from the nearby St. Patrick’s Seminary and University at Menlo Park. Here are a few photos of the Confirmation ceremony (click here to view the rest on our smugmug photo gallery).

Photos: 1st Holy Communion at St. Stephen’s, Sacramento, CA (May 7, 2016)

Around 40+ girls and boys had the joy of receiving our Lord Jesus Christ for the first time last Saturday (May 7, 2016), during a Solemn High Mass celebrated at St. Stephen the First Martyr parish in Sacramento, CA (an apostolate parish of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter or FSSP). Click on the photo to view the picture gallery of this special event. Please note that we have taken a limited number of pictures due to the request made to the faithful to refrain from taking photos during mass (entrance and concluding procession were ok).

Photos: Solemn Pontifical Mass (EF) in honor of Father Augustus Tolton, Servant of God (April 25, 2016)

We are pleased to share with you the photos from the Solemn Pontifical Mass (Extraordinary Form) in honor of Father Augustus Tolton, Servant of God, that was celebrated last April 25, 2016, by His Excellency, the Most Reverend Joseph N. Perry, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago and Diocesan Postulator for the Cause of Father Tolton. The 130th Anniversary celebration of the First Solemn Mass of Fr. Tolton took place at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Costa Mesa, CA, a parish being taken cared of by the The Norbertine Fathers of Saint Michael’s Abbey. By all accounts, it was a full packed church, with some people even coming all the way from Oregon and other far flung places!

We are currently in the process of editing the video of the Pontifical Mass and we hope to post it soon. In the meantime, here are a selection of photos we took — the rest can be viewed at our smugmug photo gallery. While any of our photos and videos may be freely posted on other blogs and websites, we are only requesting an acknowledgement / credit to be given to the Traditional Latin Mass Society of San Francisco with a link to our website (http://sanctatrinitasunusdeus.com).

2016 Confirmation at St. Stephen the First Martyr (Sacramento, CA) on 3/13/16

It was a blessing to witness the conferral of the Sacrament of Confirmation by his Excellency, the Most Reverend Myron Cotta, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Sacramento, to a large number of Confirmandi (50 in all!) at St. Stephen the First Martyr, an apostolate parish of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) at Sacramento, CA last March 13, 2016. Assisting the Bishop were Rev. John Lyons, FSSP, Rev. Lee Perry, and Rev. Zachary Akers, FSSP. The Rite of Confirmation was followed by the Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and concluded with a lively reception at the church gym. Here a few photos taken by the Traditional Latin Mass Society of San Francisco (view photo gallery here).

Passion Sunday, Veneration of the Relic of the True Cross at St. Margaret Mary (Oakland, CA) on 3/13/2016

On Passion Sunday (March 13, 2016), the faithful at St. Margaret Mary’s (Oakland, CA) had an opportunity to venerate the relic of the True Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ after the 12:30PM High Mass. The relic is on loan from the Traditional Latin Mass Society of San Francisco. Here are some of the photos taken today (view photo gallery here).

Photos: 2016 Rite of Institution of Lectors and Acolytes at St. Patrick’s (Menlo Park, CA)

We were recently invited to the Rite of Institution of Lectors and Acolytes by some friends of ours at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, CA. The main celebrant of the Holy Mass (in the Ordinary Form) was the Most Reverend Robert F. Vasa, D.D., Bishop of Santa Rosa. We join the family and friends of the instituted lectors and acolytes in congratulating them all, and we ask our readers to keep them in your prayers as they continue their vocation discernment process. Below are a few photos taken from this special event. More photos can be viewed at our smugmug gallery website.

TLMS of SF Coverage of the 2016 Walk For Life West Coast!

It was a full day for us last Saturday (Jan. 23, 2016), as we started the day getting organized for the Walk For Life Info Faire at Civic Center Plaza. This is what we’ve been doing for the past couple of years before the Walk For Life Program, where we display and distribute materials, flyers, brochures on the Traditional Latin Mass, along with 50 other vendors (ranging from pro-life pregnancy clinics to Diocesan and religious communities). We also volunteered to take photos of our fellow vendors at the Info Faire. We started to pack our display when the program started, which included an impressive line up of speakers such as Obianuju Ekeocha of Culture of Life Africa, Mexican musical superstar and pro-life activist Emmanuel, and also David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress (well known for his undercover videos on Planned Parenthood’s selling of body parts of aborted babies). Inspite of the rainy weather at the onstart of the Walk (it eventually stopped), it didn’t prevent several thousands of pro-lifers from filling up the streets of downtown San Francisco! It was also edifying to see various Traditional Latin Mass communities (specially the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and this year, the participation of more than 500 people from the Society of St. Pius X, where the Superior General, Bishop Bernard Fellay was present); walking side by side for the sanctity of life! After the Walk, we proceeded to the National Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi for a Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form that was celebrated by Fr. Anthony M., OFM Conv., with assistance of Fr. Zachary Akers, FSSP, and Fr. Ashley Perry from St. Stephen’s. Music was provided by the St Ann Choir of Palo Alto and directed by Prof. William Mahrt. We will be uploading shortly the video of Fr. Anthony’s sermon.

In the meantime, below are some of the photos we took. Photos can be downloaded and shared, though we are only requesting photo credits to go to the Traditional Latin Mass Society of San Francisco. More photos can be viewed at our smugmug photo gallery. Click here for the photo albums of the Info Faire, Walk For Life Program, and Solemn High Mass. But be sure to mark your calendars for next year’s walk, which will take place on January 21, 2017!

Info Faire Tent. There were two rows of tents setup across the Civic Center Plaza for various organizations.

The Gabriel Project, one of our booth neighbors, a parish-based ministry for pregnant mothers in need.

Our booth!! Filled with leaflets, flyers, brochures on the Traditional Latin Mass, plus a few sweets given out to everyone passing by!

Septuagesima Sunday: High Mass in the EF with Fr. Jeffrey Keyes at Star of the Sea

It has been awhile since we’ve been at Star of the Sea Church in San Francisco, but we recently had the opportunity to be there again for Fr. Jeffrey Keyes’ High Mass in the Extraordinary Form last Sunday, January 24th. Father Keyes, who’s currently based at St. Mary’s Church at Norwalk, CT, was in town for a few days, where he got to attend the Walk For Life West Coast the day before. The church was a bit crowded – more than usual – due to a bus load of visitors coming from St. Anne’s Church in San Diego, who were also at the Walk for Life. Folks from Father Keyes’ former parish, St. Edwards at Newark, CA, were also there to see what has transpired with him since his departure last year.

Here are some of the photos taken from the High Mass with Father Keyes. More can be viewed at our smugmug photo gallery.

Photos: 2016 Love, Life & Family Benefit Dinner with Cardinal Burke

Last Friday, we had a road trip down south which took 10 hours (5 hours one-way) to be able to make it to the 2016 Love, Life & Family Benefit Dinner organized by our friends at the Shield of Roses, a Catholic Pro Life charity organization based at Glendale, CA. The honorable guest speaker was none other than His Eminence, Raymond Cardinal Burke, Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. It was a very well-attended event, with the presence of both laity and various clergy from the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), Norbertine Fathers and other nearby diocesan priests. We will be posting shortly the video of the talk given by his Eminence. In the meantime, photos are now available for viewing on our smugmug gallery here.
